Sunil Gavaskar urged critics to be a little more patient with MS Dhoni, who is no more the consistent match-winner he once was. Dhoni, on Tuesday, smashed 55 not out to help India chase down 299 vs Australia in Adelaide.advertisement India Today Web Desk New DelhiJanuary 15, 2019UPDATED: January 15, 2019 22:57 IST MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten 55 off 54 balls in the Adelaide ODI (BCCI Photo)HIGHLIGHTSMS Dhoni scored 55 not out off 54 balls to help India chase down 299 vs Australia in the 2nd ODIDhoni shared crucial partnerships with Virat Kohli (82) and Dinesh Karthik (59) as India won by 6 wickets in AdelaideSunil Gavaskar felt critics needed to leave Dhoni alone as he was not getting any youngerBrief Scores: India (299/4; Kohli 104, Dhoni 55 not out) beat Australia (298/9; Marsh 131, Maxwell 48, Bhuvneshwar 4 for 45) by 6 wickets. Full ScorecardMS Dhoni defied age to slam an unbeaten 55 off 54 balls in the unrelenting Adelaide heat as India chased down 299 against Australia with six wickets and four balls to spare. Thanks to Dhoni’s 69th fifty and Virat Kohli’s 39th hundred, India have been able to draw level 1-1 in the three-match series.MS Dhoni’s form was a big talking point ahead of the ODI series. Last year, he managed only 275 runs from 20 ODIs without scoring a fifty. On Saturday, Dhoni ploughed his way to 51 off 96 balls and failed to accelerate as India fell short by 34 runs in the first ODI in Sydney. However, it was a different story on Tuesday at the Adelaide Oval. Faced with a steep chase of 299, India were able to get off to a good start. Shikhar Dhawan (32) and Rohit Sharma (43) played their parts before Virat Kohli took control with a 112-ball 104.It was Kohli’s 82-run stand with MS Dhoni that put India in command. Even after Kohli’s dismissal, India never looked like being out of the fight, thanks in no small measure to Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni, who stayed calm under pressure. This innings must be a huge relief for MS Dhoni fans – over the last year, their hero has had to endure stinging criticism for his inability to finish matches. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said it was important to realise Dhoni was not getting any younger and urged critics to be more patient with him.advertisementMS Dhoni is 37 but the Indian team considers him to be crucial to their plans for the World Cup.”He keeps telling the bowlers to bowl a particular delivery, what a batsman is planning to do. He has a sense of what a batsman is thinking. Obviously, nobody can read precisely what is going on in a batsman mind…the best way to help bowlers, the best way to help field placements for a captain or wicketkeeper is to put himself in that particular batsman’s place or mind. What the batsman is looking to do now…is he looking to get out of jail kind of shot? Is he looking to push the ball ball around for a single? These are the kind of things where Dhoni helps the bowlers and of course with the field placing because Virat is so important in the deep in the final overs when he saves those two runs diving around, takes magnificent catches in the deep. So it’s not possible for Virat to maybe have a conversation with the bowlers or maybe to make adjustments to the square fielders. That is where Virat has complete faith and trust in Dhoni to make those little bit of adjustments for him,” Gavaskar told India Today.”That value you cannot calculate at all. My prayer is to please leave the gentleman alone and he will continue to do well. He is also not getting younger. So the consistency you might have at a younger age will obviously not be there and you have to bear with that. Bear with that little inconsistency. But he’s still tremendous value to the team.”Not just Gavaskar. Virat Kohli, who won the man-of-the-match award for his 104, said Dhoni kept him calm and ensured he did not get too carried away during a tense chase. “Tonight was an MS classic. Only he knows what’s going through his mind. He calculates the game so well. He backs himself to hit those big hits. Hats off to him and Dinesh as well.”He came in and showed the right kind of intent. MS was as composed as ever. We try and help each other… Tonight was special for us,” Kohli said.Gavaskar is also confident Dhoni will get his rhythm back before the World Cup starts.”India now go to New Zealand for the one day series and T20 series then they comeback and play the one day matches against Australia and a couple of T20s. Then the IPL starts. So he’ll be playing pretty much right through till the World Cup starts and he’ll be settled till then. He’ll get a 10-day break before the World Cup starts. I think it would have been ideal had he played a bit of cricket before he came to Australia. Not just he, but Shikhar Dhawan and Ambati Rayudu also. We can see a little bit of rustiness. Let’s just focus on today, let’s just focus on tomorrow and hope that with the matches in store with the IPL together, India will be ready for World,” he said.advertisementAlso Read | MS Dhoni has done this for years: Dinesh Karthik on match-winning stand in AdelaideAlso Read | Jasprit Bumrah salutes MS Dhoni: Legends don’t need to prove their worth to anyoneAlso Read | MS Dhoni overtakes Virat Kohli for highest average in successful run chasesFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. The World’s Most Versatile Tent: Cotopaxi Inti

first_img Hang Tight with the Best Camping and Backpacking Hammocks Tent Buying Guide: How to Find the Best Tent for Your Trip How to Sleep Outdoors: Bring the Best Gear for a Good Night’s Sleep Editors’ Recommendations Picking a tent out for your summer camping adventures can be a hard (and very expensive) decision. Do you go with an ultralight backpacking tent to save on weight? While it’s a great option for serious hikers, the average car camper will be seriously cramped. Likewise, you’re probably not going to pack that fifteen pound 4-man tent into your high alpine fishing camp if you don’t absolutely have to.The compromise of weight and space is a constant fact for serious campers, until now. We got a sneak peak of Cotopaxi’s latest secret project while visiting their Salt Lake City headquarters earlier in May. The Inti tent is unlike any other backcountry shelter we’ve ever seen – expandable for extra space when you need it, lightweight and ultra packable when you don’t.Related: 6 Best Tents of 2016 | Kifari TipiThe Inti benefits from Cotopaxi’s unique design philosophy. Because they are a smaller, more nimble team, the product developers at Cotopaxi can explore ideas about apparel and camping gear that don’t fit the typical mold. Having their entire small operation based together in Salt Lake also allows them to get some serious prototype testing done after hours – they are literally minutes away from eleven thousand foot peaks and hundreds of miles of trails.Starting with a 2-man base, the Inti tent is a true backpacking powerhouse. The tent and rainfly come in under five pounds. Split up the body, poles, and fly with a partner for a little weight savings and you’ve got a bombproof shelter for a weeklong wilderness excursion. However, You can also order the Inti’s unique Alcove. It docks to the main body to add additional floor space when you need to store extra gear, smelly dogs, or a couple extra friends. It adds two and half pounds to the total weight, and can also be pitched alone as an ultralight clamshell shelter. That would be our choice for hot weather desert camping. All together, the tent-alcove system packs in nearly seventy square feet of space so you can sleep four people comfortably. By splitting it apart, you can distribute the tent through your whole group when backpacking or easily pack it in the car to bring along some extra space to spread out.The Cotopaxi Inti launched on Indiegogo today. The first production run will ship in late July. At $325 for the whole system (almost a 50% discount from expected retail price), you’ll have a lightweight 2-man tent, 4-man car camping gear house, and an ultralight shelter for long distance hauls. If you’re looking for the perfect multi-role backcountry shelter, you just found the perfect option.
