(Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images)Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has been a major topic of discussion this offseason. The Heisman Trophy winner has formally declared for the NFL Draft and has left his future plans up for speculation.Murray was a first-round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, and the Oakland Athletics badly want him to begin his baseball career. However, he could be first-round choice in this year’s NFL Draft, and if outward appearances are to be believed, Murray wants to give football a shot.Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller stated today that Murray is the player in this year’s draft class that scouts are “most excited about.”The best move the team can make is to identify and draft a starting quarterback early in the first round. That is, of course, easier said than done. The player that NFL scouts continue to be the most excited about is Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray. He isn’t a sure thing, but the buzz surrounding him is unlike anything I’ve heard in a long time.Murray is the second quarterback off the board in Miller’s latest mock. He is one of four quarterbacks to be taken in the first round. The others are Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins, Missouri’s Drew Lock and Duke’s Daniel Jones. You can view Miller’s full seven-round mock here. For comparison, the latest mock draft from CBS Sports doesn’t have Murray in the first round. His stock will be interesting to monitor over the next two-plus months.last_img read more
