Michigan Football/TwitterJourdan Lewis did not play in Michigan’s opener vs. Hawaii.Jourdan Lewis, the Wolverines’ All-American defensive back, was being held out of the game because he was working through an injury.ESPN commentator Ed Cunningham, though, speculated that Lewis was being held out due to a suspension when the game went to break. At his press conference this afternoon, Jim Harbaugh called out Cunningham and clarified the reason for Lewis missing the contest.“He was getting close to being healthy enough to play in the game. He was working through something – had nothing to do with off-field suspension,” Harbaugh told reporters. “I heard Ed Cunningham got way out over his skis, speculating that it was some kind of suspension. Jourdan Lewis is one of the finest guys we have on the team – football character and off-the-field character…just total character. There’s few, if any, better than Jourdan Lewis. I just wanted to clarify that.”You can watch video of Harbaugh’s comments here.Michigan beat Hawaii, 63-3.The Wolverines (1-0) are set to face UCF on Saturday at noon.
