SANTA FE SPRINGS — Lost in low-lying morning fog, a woman drove her compact car onto railroad tracks early Friday morning, then called her firefighter son for help when her vehicle got stuck, police said. The son told her to get out of the car and call the police. As she was calling, Metrolink train No. 701 heading from Riverside to Los Angeles collided with the car at about 6:40 a.m. near Perkins Avenue and Norwalk Boulevard, said Santa Fe Springs Fire Department Capt. Chris Crispo. No one was injured. Passengers on the Metrolink were transferred to another train, he said.
