ORANGE WEATHER ALERT FOR DONEGAL AS HURRICANE GONZALO SET TO HIT

first_imgHurricane GonzaloMET Eireann has issued an Orange Weather Alert for Donegal as the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo pound the county this evening.Wind gusts of up to 120km/hr are expected, said a spokesman.The wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. An Orange alert is the second highest alert. “This category of ORANGE level weather warnings is for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas,” says Met Eireann.“The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.”The alert is in place from 7pm this evening until 2pm tomorrow.The forecaster warned of “strong to gale force south to southwest winds will become gale force west or northwest overnight with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.
